WHAT IS CITY OF NEWBURGH COMMUNITY POWER? 

The City of Newburgh Community Power empowers the City of Newburgh to pool local electricity demand in order to leverage the collective buying power of residents and small businesses in an effort to secure more favorable terms on their electricity supply, protect consumers, and choose renewable generation sources.

The City of Newburgh is considering offering community choice electricity supply.  Information on program rates will be posted below. 

WHO IS AUTOMATICALLY ENROLLED IN THE COMMUNITY CHOICE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY OFFERING?  

At the time the program launches, residents and small businesses (non-demand customers) that receive electricity supply through the utility and do not have a block on their electricity account will be notified and automatically enrolled in the program, unless they chose to opt-out before the program launches.   

Customers can opt-out or opt-in at any point for no fee. 

Who is automatically enrolled?

When launched, residents and small businesses (non-demand customers) that receive electricity supply through the utility, do not have a block on their electricity account, and have not opted out will be notified and automatically enrolled in the program. Those enrolled will receive the community choice electricity supply offering. 

Customers can opt out or opt in at any point without a fee. 

WHO IS NOT AUTOMATICALLY ENROLLED IN THE COMMUNITY CHOICE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY OFFERING? 

Not automatically enrolled in City of Newburgh Community Power:    

  • Time of Use Customers    

  • Those who have selected an alternate supplier/ESCO    

  • Larger commercial and all industrial customers with demand meters  

  • Customers with a block on their utility account
